Clos du Tuilier: a wedding venue in Oppedette, Haute-Provence

Clos du Tuilier is a wedding venue in Oppedette, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence: a small stone hamlet set among fields and vineyards, with a pool, a reception hall and on-site accommodation, including bell tents among the lavender. It hosts up to around 200 guests. I visited it in October 2026 for my Wedding Venue Collection, the selection of venues I share in my Instagram story highlights.
Where is Clos du Tuilier?
The estate sits on the Route de Vachères in Oppedette, a hilltop village above the Calavon gorges, on the northern edge of the Luberon Regional Nature Park. Forcalquier, Apt and Banon are close by. This is Haute-Provence at its most unspoilt: wooded hills as far as the eye can see, fields, vineyards and some of the clearest skies in France.

Where does the name come from?
The estate is named after an old tile workshop and its kiln on the property. That craft history shows everywhere: dry-stone walls, old roof tiles, terracotta floors in the rooms.
What is the estate like?
Clos du Tuilier feels like a miniature village. You walk between the buildings along a paved lane lit by lanterns, then come out onto the gardens and the view.
- The stone hamlet, with pale shutters, wrought-iron lanterns and festoon lights
- The reception hall, with exposed stone walls and a ceiling hung with curtains of fairy lights
- The pool, lined with cypress trees, facing the hills
- The gardens, with olive trees, cypresses, ornamental grasses and lavender terraces
- A shaded terrace under a large tree, for drinks or brunch
- The accommodation: stone guest rooms and bell tents set among the lavender

Where do the ceremony, drinks and dinner take place?
The gardens offer several spots for a celebrant-led ceremony, with cypresses and hills as a backdrop. Drinks can be served around the pool or on the shaded terrace. Dinner can be held outdoors in good weather, or in the stone reception hall, which doubles as a wet-weather backup.

How many guests can it host?
The venue's listings give a capacity of up to 200 guests. The size of the hamlet particularly suits weddings of around a hundred people who want to spend the whole weekend together.
Can guests stay on site?
Yes, and it is one of the venue's great strengths. One couple housed half of their 100 guests on site. Alongside the stone rooms, with four-poster beds and old terracotta tiles, there are bell tents set among the lavender: an original option for friends that turns the wedding into a proper stay.

What budget should you plan?
Wedding directories list venue hire from around €7,000. Ask the venue for a detailed quote: season, number of nights and the accommodation you book change the total. Couples' reviews praise a flexible, attentive team.
A photographer's view of Clos du Tuilier
What strikes you is the space and the light. Nothing breaks the horizon: the hills change colour all day, and the sun sets over a landscape without a single modern building. For a photographer, it is a setting that needs no artifice.
- Getting ready: rooms with white drapes and pale walls give soft, diffused light, ideal for the dress and details.
- Couple portraits: the lavender terraces and the line of cypresses, in the hour before sunset.
- Group photo: the hamlet lane, or the lawn in front of the pool with the hills behind.
- The evening: the hamlet's lanterns and festoon lights, and the stone hall lit by hundreds of tiny lights.
I have photographed weddings between the Hautes-Alpes and Provence for years, and this part of Haute-Provence has a light of its own: crisp by day, very soft in the evening.
