A Fine Art reportage in Marseille
Marseille is not the most expected wedding destination in Provence, but it holds remarkable surprises. France's second city possesses a wealth of reception venues that often goes unnoticed: 18th-century bastides hidden in residential neighbourhoods, hilltop estates with views over the calanques, seaside properties between L'Estaque and La Ciotat. And everywhere, that rare Mediterranean light.
As a wedding photographer based in Aix-en-Provence, I am 30 minutes from Marseille and photograph there regularly. The city and its hinterland have taught me a direct, luminous photography that is unafraid of contrast or vivid colour.

Marseille demands a photography in its own image: direct, contrasted, luminous. My Fine Art approach adapts to the character of the city and each venue, more elegant in the historic bastides, more open and airy in seaside properties, more dramatic in the calanques.
What doesn't change: natural light, carefully posed portraits, a narrative faithful to the atmosphere of the wedding. Marseille offers exceptional light quality, the sunniest city in France, which I exploit at every moment of the day.
The most beautiful wedding venues in Marseille
Château Pastré, in Parc Borély, with its pine avenue and neo-classical architecture. Villa Valmer, a bourgeois villa with views of the islands and sea access. Bastides of the 8th and 9th arrondissements, historic residences surrounded by Mediterranean gardens. Calanques properties, for weddings with white cliffs and sea as backdrop. Hinterland estates between La Ciotat and Cassis, combining vineyards and sea views.
Light in Marseille through the seasons
Spring: soft and luminous, ideal for outdoor ceremonies. Summer: intense light, deep blue sea; golden hour couple sessions facing the Mediterranean are spectacular. Autumn: warm light, the sea still beautiful. Winter: Marseille is one of the few French cities where a winter wedding benefits from exceptional sunshine.
